WEEK 8: DESIGN BLOCK DIAGRAM

OBJECTIVE
  1. To design a block diagram for quadruped robot.
  2. To study the flow work of developing a quadruped robot and present in a block diagram.
METHODOLOGY
  1. Study the principle work of arduino with a wifi module.
  2. Research through past project regarding arduino NodeMcu with servo motor.
  3. Set the flow work diagram for my quadruped robot.
  4. Design a simplification block diagram for my quadruped robot.
RESULT

After studying the basic work of arduino with wifi module. I research through past project that using NodeMcu with servo motor. From the research found, I have set up my block diagram for my quadruped robot. The block diagram as below:

ANALYSIS/DISCUSSION

From the result obtain above, the block diagram that presented is the work flow for my quadruped robot. Any modification that made on developing the quadruped robot afterward, the block diagram will be update.

CONCLUSION

In conclusion, the objectives for this week is achieved. The block diagram that have made will be used for now and will adjust or update if there have some modification when developing my project.

WEEK 7: SET UP OBJECTIVE

OBJECTIVE
  1. To find a specific objectives for my Final Year Project.
  2. Create objectives that relates to the problem statement.
  3. Produce objective that is clear and specific for readers to understand about the project.
METHODOLOGY
  1. Create the main objective on how to design the spider robot different from other common spider robot.
  2. Refer to the problem statement on how to simplify the main objective on this project.
  3. Discover other objectives that can be relate to this type of project.
  4. Consult the supervisor on creating the objectives.
  5. Set up the suitable objectives for my Final Year Project.
RESULT

After researching from past journals and articles related to quadruped robot and studying my problem statement. The objectives of my Final Year Project have been set up. Before that, I have consult my supervisor regarding the objectives that have been made and we made a few correction to simplify it so that it is easy to understand. The objectives as in below:
  1. To develop a quadruped robot using arduino.
  2. To develop a quadruped robot that control using BLYNK app.
  3. To develop a quadruped robot that can crawl straight path.
ANALYSIS/DISCUSSION

From the result obtained, the objectives of my Final Year Project have been set up. The objectives already been consult by my supervisor and approved. However, this objective can be change if there is a complicated issues before the project is made. Currently, the objective will be used and will try to pursue to achieve it.

CONCLUSION

In Conclusion, the objective for my Final Year Project is set up with the help of my supervisor. My project now have its objectives and I can continue to design my project's block diagram.

WEEK 6: DO BENCHMARKS

OBJECTIVE
  1. Find any related project about quadruped robot.
  2. Study the findings and make a benchmarks.
METHODOLOGY
  1. Search any related project about quadruped robot from the internet.
  2. Study and understand the past project to make benchmarks for my Final Year Project.
  3. Consult my supervisor for any suggestion on doing benchmarks.
  4. Make a simplification of the findings and present in this week result.
RESULT

From the research on the internet from the website http://www.instructables.com/id/DIY-Spider-RobotQuad-robot-Quadruped/. This website shows a lot of information regarding quadruped robot such as how to design, build and what component need to use. The design is based from electronic and software engineer name Regis Hsu.

Figure 1: This is the main component that use which is arduino pro mini, sg90 servo motor, power bank, and a voltage regulator.

Figure 2: The body and legs is made up using 3D printed

Figure 3: Picture of how Regis Hsu assemble the robot

Figure 4: The connection of the servo motors to arduino pro mini

The robot however is not using a wifi module thus it is not an IoT base. Another website that found was how to program a quadruped robot with arduino.
https://makezine.com/2016/11/22/robot-quadruped-arduino-program/.
From this website, the information to study and learn how to program a quadruped robot using arduino is very helpful.

ANALYSIS/DISCUSSION

From the websites that found, the information that obtained from Regis Hsu is very helpful. The design and components that used is easy to learn and understand. However, his project does not using wifi module thus it does not use the internet of thing (IoT) platform. The programming from the other website is quite similar that been use by Regis Hsu for his robot. The programming code can be learn from the website.

CONCLUSION

In conclusion, the objectives of this week blog is achieve completely. Both of the website that research is very helpful. Thus, it is my benchmarks for my Final Year Project.

WEEK 34: COMPLETING PROJECT THESIS

OBJECTIVE To do corrections for chapter 1, 2 and 3. To compile all chapters. To complete the project thesis. METHODOLOGY Correc...
